Sleepout Steel Frame Kitset 3.0m x 6.0m B (18sqm)

The Sleepout Steel Frame Kitset 3.0m x 6.0m B is an 18m² gable-roof steel framing kit divided into two rooms by an internal partition wall. Wall frames and roof frames are supplied, with a wide opening and a window framed into the south wall, a window in the east wall and a door opening in the partition; cladding and roofing are available separately.

This is a frame-only kitset: every wall and roof frame is manufactured to the dimensions in the plans and supplied as a flat bundle pack or pre-assembled. Floor frames, doors, windows, cladding, roofing and foundations are not included.

Site Suitability & Design Notes

Where full building consent plans have not been supplied, the client is to confirm all design parameters, so confirm your site’s wind, snow and ground conditions with our team before ordering. Bracing design is excluded from the base kit; an add-on design for sheet bracing to the walls and strap bracing to the roof can be supplied, with the bracing products supplied by others.

The 35° roof suits all common roofing profiles. This kitset supplies the steel structure of a sleepout only: whether your project needs building consent, and what insulation, linings and weathertightness a habitable room must meet, depends on your site and council, so check with your local council before you build. All opening sizes on the plans are frame opening sizes, SFML supplies frame-to-frame connections only unless other arrangements are made, and there is no allowance for architectural design or detailing.

Engineering: An engineer’s PS1 is not included. It is available at additional cost on request, or you can use your own engineer.

Delivery & Installation

Frames are manufactured at our factory in Waimate for collection, or delivered free to your nearest Booths Logistics freight depot as a flat bundle pack for you to collect and assemble on site. Pre-assembled frames, ready to stand with frame-to-frame fixings provided, are available at an additional freight cost. Freight costs are determined by your delivery location.

What openings are framed into the walls?

The south wall has a 2020mm wide by 2020mm high opening and a 1420mm by 900mm window opening, the east wall has a 1020mm by 620mm window opening, and the partition has an 885mm wide by 2045mm high door opening. All are frame opening sizes; the doors and windows themselves are supplied by others.

What wind and snow loads is it designed for?

The design is suitable up to High wind zone and snow loads of <1.5kPa. Confirm your site conditions with our team before ordering.

What roofing suits a 35° roof pitch?

A 35° gable roof is well above the 8° minimum for typical corrugated profiles, so corrugated, trough/tray and trapezoid roofing profiles can all be used.

Are foundations or a floor included?

No. The SO-3×6-B is designed for a concrete slab, which is designed and built by others, or designed by SFML on request, and neither the slab nor a floor frame is included in the kit price.
