Site Suitability & Design Notes
This is a transportable design: trailer-based tiny houses sit outside the scope of building design standards, so this kitset carries no wind-zone or snow-load rating. We align our designs as closely as possible to the relevant standards but cannot guarantee compliance, and tiny house designs often include features outside NASH Standard Part Two: May 2019, such as overheight walls, mezzanines and step-down walkways. An engineer can review the design at your request as an additional service at further cost.
Bracing design is not included in the kit. At 7° the lower roof pitch is below the 8° minimum for typical corrugated roofing, so choose a trough/tray or trapezoid profile — NZBC E2 allows these down to 3° — and confirm the profile and fixings with your roofing supplier. Whether your project needs building consent, and what a habitable tiny house must meet, depends on how it is built and used, so check with your local council. All opening sizes on the plans are frame opening sizes, SFML supplies frame-to-frame connections only unless other arrangements are made, and there is no allowance for architectural design or detailing.
Engineering: An engineer’s PS1 is not included. It is available at additional cost on request, or you can use your own engineer.

Frequently Asked Questions
What size is the TI-2.95×8-A tiny house kitset?
The TI-2.95×8-A measures 2.95m by 8.0m, a 23.6m² footprint, with stud heights from 2420mm rising to 3445mm under 7° and 11° roof pitches.
What’s included in the kit?
The tiny house steel frame kitset 2.95m x 8.0m includes wall frames, roof frames, mezzanine frames, roof-to-wall brackets, a site kit of ancillaries (driver bits, gloves, grommets and assembly screws) and construction plans. The trailer, doors, windows, cladding, roofing and bracing design are not included — see the What’s Included table above.
Is it suitable for a trailer-based tiny house?
Yes. It is designed as a transportable build. Trailer-based tiny houses sit outside the scope of building design standards, so we align the design as closely as we can to the relevant standards but cannot guarantee compliance.
What wind and snow loads is it designed for?
None are stated, because a transportable tiny house is outside NASH Standard Part Two. An engineer can review the design at your request as an additional service at further cost.
Does it include a mezzanine?
Yes. Mezzanine frames are included, built from C89 joists back to back at 600mm centres. The plans show the mezzanine layout.
Is an engineer’s PS1 included?
No. A PS1 is available at additional cost on request, or you can use your own engineer.
What roofing suits the 7° and 11° pitches?
The 7° pitch is below the 8° minimum for typical corrugated roofing, so choose a trough/tray or trapezoid profile, which NZBC E2 allows down to 3°. Check the profile and fixings with your roofing supplier.
Can you deliver the TI-2.95×8-A to my site?
Yes. Frames are made in Waimate and delivered free to your nearest Booths Logistics freight depot as a flat bundle pack, or collected from the factory. Pre-assembled frames are available at an additional freight cost.
