The Shed Steel Frame Kitset 3m x 4m A is a 12m² steel framing kit for a garden shed, storage shed or workshop. Four wall frames and two roof frames are supplied, with a 1000mm wide door opening built into the south wall and a single-slope roof; door frame, floor frame, cladding and roofing are available separately.

Design basis: Standard design suits wind zones up to High and snow loads up to 1.5 kPa (NASH Standard Part 2, 2019). Tell us your site’s wind and snow zones when you order and we’ll confirm the design suits your site, or adjust it. Engineer’s PS1 is not included unless quoted. Foundations and consent are by others.

This shed steel frame kitset 3m x 4m is a frame-only kitset: every wall and roof frame is manufactured to the dimensions in the plans and supplied as a flat bundle pack or pre-assembled. Door frames, floor frames, cladding, roofing and foundations are not included.

The construction plans for the SH-3×4-A shed steel frame kitset show the wall and roof frame layouts, openings and dimensions, so you can check the frame against your site before you order. The second file includes the optional door frame and floor frame. They are for the standard kitset and are not site-specific; building consent documentation is available through our design team on request.

Site Suitability & Design Notes

Where full building consent plans have not been supplied, the client is to confirm all design parameters, so confirm your site’s wind, snow and ground conditions with our team before ordering. Bracing design is excluded, and there is no allowance for lining stud junctions.

At 3.8° the roof pitch is below the 8° minimum for typical corrugated roofing, so choose a trough/tray or trapezoid profile — NZBC E2 allows these down to 3°. This kitset is the structure for a shed or workshop; if you plan to use the building for anything beyond storage, discuss it with our team and check consent requirements with your local council first. All opening sizes on the plans are frame opening sizes, SFML supplies frame-to-frame connections only unless other arrangements are made, and there is no allowance for architectural design or detailing.

Lead time: Typically under 10 working days from order confirmation, if you approve plans and pay invoices promptly. Your quote confirms the timing for your order.

Delivery: Frames are made at our factory in Waimate and collected by Booths Logistics within 1 working day of your final payment. You can also collect from our Waimate factory.

• Flat pack: delivered free to your nearest Booths depot as a flat bundle pack for you to collect and assemble on site.
• Pre-assembled: ready to stand, with frame-to-frame fixings provided. Freight is extra and quoted for your address. South Island delivery is scheduled within 10 to 14 days of your second invoice.
• North Island: flat pack is delivered free to your nearest Booths depot. For assembled frames, please contact us before placing your order.

There is one door frame opening in the south wall, 1000mm wide by 2050mm high. It is a frame opening size, and the door itself is supplied by others.

What wind and snow loads is it designed for?

The design is suitable up to High wind zone and snow loads of <1.5kPa. Confirm your site conditions with our team before ordering.

What roofing suits a 3.8° roof pitch?

A pitch below 8° is not suitable for typical corrugated profiles. NZBC E2 allows trough/tray or trapezoid profiles down to 3°, so choose one of those for this mono-pitch roof.

Is a floor included?

No. A floor frame is available at additional cost (the second plans file shows it), or the shed can sit on a slab or timber joist foundation designed by others or by SFML on request. Neither is included in the kit price.

Yes. Frames are made in Waimate and delivered free to your nearest Booths Logistics freight depot as a flat bundle pack, or collected from the factory. Pre-assembled frames are available at an additional freight cost.
